Today at Athol Park Wreckers we had a vehicle come into the workshop that would not start. Early observations indicated that the engine was hydraulically locked due to some ingress of fuel into the cylinder. Upon inspections over 600 ml of fuel was located inside the intake manifold. After syringing the contents out of the inlet manifold and it became obvious that incorrect fitment of a fuel pump was responsible for the problem. When fitting pumps it is important to ensure the correct lines are fitted in the correct place to ensure that like in this instance the main fuel line from the pump is not redirected to the breather or the fuel return line.
