BELMONT SHOOTING COMPLEX
The Belmont Shooting Complex
was established in 1916, by the Australian Federal Government as a rifle range site, with
plans for a 50 target range initially approved. Prior to World War 2 the site was
used by the Australian Army for Small Arms purposes. It was not until the 1950's
that civilian activities by individual shooting clubs commenced. In the early 1960's
the construction of a full bore range commenced which was duly completed in 1964. It
was also at this time that the concept of a multi-disciplined shooting facility was
floated. Consequently construction and occupation of other ranges including Clay
Target, Pistol and Small Bore followed.
The complex is managed by the
Belmont Shooting Complex Site Users Committee, which is comprised of the following
organizations.
